Some language things I talk about in the Podcast:

Faux Amis (False friends)!

Many words in English sound very similar to French words, but that does not always mean they mean the same thing! This can be tricky when you first start learning a new language. I cover several of these false friends such as ancien and ancient. Ancien in French means old. Ancient in English means something from a previous time period.

Negation

When negating a verb in French you always place “ne” before the verb and “pas” after it. However, when speaking French, most people drop the “ne” before the verb and just say “pas” after the verb.

Verbs
I know, I know. No one wants to learn verbs. How boring. Trust me I get it. Memorizing verbs can suck the fun out of learning a language. However, being familiar with the most common verbs is essential for your French journey. Some verbs such as être (to be) and avoir (to have) are used in almost every sentence!
